Ethiopian Opals are "hydrophane," meaning if they come in contact with water, they will absorb it like a sponge and their appearance will change. They may lose their fire temporarily and turn yellow or brown. The fire and color should come back once the opals have fully dried, however, this can take a day to a few weeks, depending on how much water they absorbed. Avoid chlorine pools and other harsh liquid chemicals as this will permanently change the color and appearance of the opal.
Useable length of the piercing is approximately 6mm with a corkscrew bottom. Thickness is 20 gauge and stone measures 3mm in size.
